DP1 ELA is currently reading The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Students have finished Act 1 and are well into Act 2. Students are reading with an eye toward dramatic performance, paraphrasing and character analysis. Students spend time in class discussing various aspects of the play and reading aloud to develop an ear and voice for Shakespeare's language. Additionally, students have an opportunity to memorize a soliloquy to perform for extra credit. The culminating assignment for this unit will be a Character Analysis Essay.
