Middle School

THE MEISHI IUPP MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM (MS 1-4) MODEL:

  STANDARDS:     ASSESSMENT:

CMIS has adopted the Basic California and American College Board's “Pre-AP” Standards for our Integrated University Preparatory Program's Middle School, MS 1 through MS4, in order to prepare our students for the rigors of the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma and the North American AP (Advanced Placement) International Diploma. Conceptually, Pre-AP is based on the following important premises: the expectation that all students can perform at rigorous academic levels. moreover, the belief that we can prepare every student for higher intellectual engagement by starting the development of skills and acquisition of knowledge as early as possible. Addressed effectively, the middle and high school years can provide a powerful opportunity to help all students acquire the knowledge, concepts, and skills needed to engage in a higher level of learning.

Students will be graded based on Mastery of the content standards. Students will be placed by achievement level for English, Chinese and Mathematics.

MS 1-3

  FRAMEWORK and METHODOLOGY:     RECOGNITION:

As an IB World School and actively entering the “Trial implementation period”, CMIS has adopted the International Baccalaureate Organization's Middle Years Program (MYP) Framework as the best way to implement Standards in all Content Areas. Through use of this Framework IUPP students will have an alignment of teaching methodology leading to the International Baccalaureate and the College Board's Advanced Placement International Diplomas.
